Van nierfalen naar herstel: Bibi en de kracht van CBDa

From Kidney Failure to Recovery: Bibi and the Power of CBDa

From Kidney Failure to Recovery: Bibi and the Power of CBDa

From the naturopathic practice, Annette de Vogel

Sometimes time stands still in my practice. Like that afternoon when Bibi's owner called – one hour before her dog was to be put to sleep.

Bibi, a 12-year-old Spanish rescue dog, had severe kidney failure according to routine blood tests. Her urea and creatinine levels were significantly elevated. The conclusion seemed clear: little hope for the future. But her owner felt the story wasn't complete yet.

And when I saw Bibi—even if it was through a video—I didn't see a dog who had given up. I saw liveliness in her eyes. Alertness. Presence. That didn't match the image of a terminally exhausted animal in end-stage renal failure.

That was the moment we decided to look further.

When kidney values don't tell the whole story

Elevated urea and creatinine levels usually indicate impaired kidney filtration function. But these values don't always explain why the body is experiencing a stagnation.

After a comprehensive history and energetic measurements, Bibi's liver was found to be severely burdened. There was toxic overload, disruption of bile flow, and a profound disruption of her detoxification system. Botulism resonance was also measured—subtly present, without classic paralysis symptoms, but disruptive to her nervous system and intestinal function.

Medically, this is important. When the liver and bile are not functioning properly:

  • Stagnates fat digestion

  • Are toxins excreted less efficiently?

  • Secondary stress on the kidneys occurs

  • Aggravates systemic inflammation

What appears to be kidney failure can sometimes be the result of a cascade of detoxification problems.

The body isn't a collection of separate organs. It's a single, collaborative system.

The treatment plan: regulate instead of suppress

We opted for a multidisciplinary approach aimed at restoring balance:

1. Acupuncture & bioresonance

Focused on the liver, gallbladder, spleen and kidney meridians.
Goal: Improve blood circulation, reduce energetic blockages and restore organ communication.

2. Nutritional intervention

Transition from dry kibble to easily digestible, cooked fresh food with vegetables.
With this we reduced metabolic load and inflammatory stimuli from the intestine.

3. Phytotherapy & supplementation

  • Dandelion tea to support liver and bile

  • Beta Plus (Biotics) for bile drainage and fat digestion

  • Homeopathic support for detoxification and neurotoxic load

But a crucial role in this process was played by full spectrum CBDa oil.

The role of Full Spectrum CBDa oil

Bibi received Carlotta 10% CBDa oil from CBD Spain — a full spectrum extract.

Why CBDa?

CBDa (cannabidiolic acid) is the acidic, unheated form of CBD. Research shows that CBDa:

  • Strong inflammation-modulating effect

  • Influences the serotonergic system (5-HT1A receptors)

  • The endocannabinoid system supports

  • Can regulate nausea and inflammatory processes

With liver and kidney problems we often see:

  • Chronic low-grade inflammation

  • Oxidative stress

  • Disrupted cell communication

Full-spectrum CBDa oil contains other cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids in addition to CBDa. These work together in what's known as the entourage effect : a synergistic effect where the plant components enhance each other.

In Bibi's case we saw that:

  • Her appetite improved

  • Her energy increased

  • Her stool normalized (from orange — bile stagnation — to a healthy brown color)

  • Her playfulness returned

Within a week, her clinical picture changed visibly.

Where she was first prepared for euthanasia, she now stood again with her ball in her mouth: “Ready to play.”

What makes the difference?

The difference does not lie in one miracle cure.

The difference is in:

  • Looking at the whole

  • Understanding organ coherence

  • Regulating inflammatory processes instead of suppressing them

  • Supporting the body in its own healing capacity

Full-spectrum CBDa oil can be an important modulator in this regard. Not as a replacement for conventional veterinary medicine, but as a valuable addition to an integrated approach.

Practical experience

At the Center for Alternative Veterinary Medicine in Amsterdam, I have worked intensively with CBD Spain oil in recent years in animals with:

  • Chronic kidney problems

  • Osteoarthritis and pain complaints

  • Liver tax

  • Anxiety and stress

  • Recovery after illness

Time and again I see that when the endocannabinoid system is supported, the body can regulate itself better.

Hope where it seemed lost

Bibi's story isn't a promise. But it is a memory.

A reminder that blood values are important, but they don't tell the whole story.
That zest for life is a signal.
And that the body — if supported — often has more recovery power than we think.

What can Full Spectrum CBDa oil be used for in animals?

  • Ignition modulation

  • Chronic pain

  • Kidney and liver support

  • Stress regulation and anxiety

  • Sleep problems

  • Recovery after illness
